MITS JOINS NMEDA 2003

Mobility Independent Transportation Systems, Inc. or MITS for short WORKS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WHO DEMAND LIFESTYLE FREEDOM NMEDA affiliation assures adaptive vehicle consumers quality assurance.

Largo, FL - There are over one million people in the U.S. using a wheelchair to live fuller, more productive lives and 12 million more who can't independently walk 2 city blocks. Yet, only 180,000 of them use some sort of adaptive vehicle to access the lifestyle most people take for granted. Why? Because until recently, consumers with disabilities looking for customized vehicle modifications and adaptive devises found locations which offered poor selection, service, long waits and overly inflated prices.

Now, many of these disappointed consumers are going to MITS, Inc. because of the superior selection, quality and service offered by this rapidly growing, cutting-edge adaptive vehicle company. Led by owner Pete Galietta, the company seeks to usher in a new era of larger, well-managed companies that offer the selection, quality and service previously lacking in the industry. Says Pete, "I believe people with disabilities dealing with this industry have put up with all kinds of stuff they shouldn't have to put up with, such as incompetence or unscrupulous business practices. It's a business segment that hasn't been well executed. Our company, in association with other National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) dealers throughout North America, is changing that."

NMEDA is an international non-profit trade association committed to ensuring quality and professionalism in the manufacturing and installation of safe and reliable mobility equipment in vehicles for drivers and passengers with disabilities.

Bob Nunn, the NMEDA President says, "I hear all too often horror stories of people who have been taken advantage of by unscrupulous 'dealers.' For all of the companies that have passed the rigorous independent inspection requirements of the NMEDA Quality Assurance Program (QAP) accreditation, the subject of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction is top priority. Just as important is educating the public that going to a mobility equipment company not recognized by NMEDA can have unsatisfactory results."

Designed to promote quality, safety, and reliability measured against the highest standards available, the QAP is the only one of its kind within the mobility equipment industry.

MITS, Inc. serves a specialized market, with many of their customers using wheelchairs, and all mobility challenged. The company offers a comprehensive selection of adaptive devices for modifying vans, trucks, minibuses, transporters and even standard automobiles. Customers choose from options like lowered floors, raised roofs, wheelchair restraint systems, custom interiors and exteriors and multiple seating arrangements to customized devices like horizontal steering dishes and electronic gas and brake controls. The staff of highly trained rigorously certified technicians (or "lifestyle technicians") install and service these and other custom modifications.

Customers have several financing options. The Bureau of Workers Compensation has a reimbursement program for vehicle adaptation when the injury occurred on the job. Veteran's benefits usually provide for modifications and liability insurance provides for adaptations needed after an accident. Additionally, Pete distinguishes his company among his competitors by offering extra advantages rarely found such financing, world-wide delivery, both new and used vehicles and trade-in options.

Changing or adapting a vehicle may seem simple, but it is complicated in terms of safety issues, which is the number one concern in making sure all mobility equipment is installed correctly. NMEDA (QAP) dealers work closely with the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM's) engineers and must have a clear understanding of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

NMEDA has changed the way adaptive vehicle companies throughout the country serve the public. MITS, Inc has invested the resources to become a NMEDA (QAP) dealer and is excited to be on the cutting edge of the new breed of adaptive vehicle companies.

MITS, Inc. is located at 8203 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL 33771.
