Two Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE Wheelchair Van Conversions to Suit Your Needs MITS is offering the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE in two configurations:
Half-drop wheelchair van conversion: This is Braun's improvement on the traditional rear-access wheelchair van conversion. The half-drop wheelchair van conversion combines a powered rear hatch, powered bifold ramp, and powered kneel system with a lowered floor area extending from the rear hatch to the right-side second-row seating position. This allows a wheelchair user to ride in the passenger-side second-row position.

Full-drop wheelchair van conversion: In addition to the powered rear hatch, ramp and kneel system, the full-drop wheelchair van conversion features a lowered floor area extending from the rear hatch all the way up to the front passenger firewall. The Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE full-drop wheelchair van conversion allows a wheelchair user to perform a standard side-transfer into the driver's seat. This wheelchair van conversion also includes a front passenger-side captain's chair on a raised, quick-release platform, so ambulatory passengers have the option of riding in the front passenger position.

Here are a few more features that make the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE a great choice for consumers who prefer a rear-access wheelchair minivan conversion:
Unmodified second-row left seat - allows a passenger to ride in the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE with the same level of comfort and safety as a left-side passenger in an unconverted.
Sienna "Secure-Lock" rear hatch latching mechanism - holds the rear hatch more securely when closed, and helps protect occupants in case of a rear-end collision.
Original Toyota fuel tank - we designed the conversion to re-use Toyota's OEM fuel tank, with its superior multi-layer construction.
Clean bumper design - we integrated the bumper cutout into the rear hatch, giving the van a clean OEM look when the hatch is closed.
Full Crash-Testing Compliance
Safety is the number one concern with any vehicle modification, and the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE is no exception. All Braun Rampvan products are crash-tested to comply with all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, including the following:
- FMVSS 204 (Steering Control Rearward Displacement)
- FMVSS 208 (Occupant Crash Protection)
- FMVSS 212 (Windshield Mounting)
- FMVSS 214 (Side Impact Protection)
- FMVSS 219 (Windshield Intrusion)
- FMVSS 301 (Fuel System Integrity)
In our collision tests, we use the deformable 33.5-mph barrier, which is a much more stringent test mechanism than the flat 20-mph barrier. We hold ourselves to higher standards so you can be assured of a higher standard of safety.
Unmodified Second-Row Left Seat
One of the most important features of the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE is not something Braun does, but rather something Braun doesn't do. They do not move, replace or otherwise modify the driver-side second-row seat. The innovative design of Braun's lowered floor enables them to leave the original Toyota captain's chair in its original position. This allows a passenger to ride in the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE with the same level of comfort and safety as a passenger in an unconverted Toyota Sienna. It also means that the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE fully complies with the recently updated federal side-impact crash requirements (FMVSS 214).
"Secure-Lock" Latch Bar
The bifold ramp of the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE features an integrated "latch bar" that serves two important purposes: securement and safety. Rather than relying solely on hydraulic pressure to hold the ramp in and the door shut, the Braun Toyota Sienna Rampvan RE's latch bar provides two latch points to make sure the door closes tightly. These dual latch points become a safety feature in the event of a rear-impact collision. Since they line up with the vehicle's frame rails, the latch points transfer impact force into the frame rails if you are rear-ended. As an added bonus, the Secure-Lock latch bar also provides a better seal when the rear hatch is closed, resulting in a quiet, rattle-free ride.
